Gabriele began studying piano at age six in Italy. After studying Classical music for several years, he auditioned for and was accepted into the Turin Jazz Center. There, he studied with Mario Rusca and Aldo Rindone and attended seminars with world-class musicians like Barney Kessel, Tal Farlow, Bobby Watson, and Steve Swallow. In 1993, Gabriele moved to London, where he played for over a decade in venues like The 606 Club, The Halo Bar, and The Bull's Head Barnes. During these years, he entered the local free jazz community, meeting musicians like Roberto Bellatalla, Jim Dvorak, Elton Dean and bands like Dreamtime and Viva La Black. This flourishing improvised music scene had an enormous influence on his music.

Gabriele moved to Copenhagen in 1997 and spent the next two years performing in local clubs and appeared in Copenhagen Jazz Festival [1998]. He concluded his stay in Denmark by recording Kitchen Sessions, an avant-garde project with Danish tabla player Lars Køldkjær.

In 2000, he returned to London and formed a trio with bassist Bellatalla and trumpet player Dvorak. The same year, they recorded the CD "Friendly Fire," which was released by 577 Records, an independent label based in New York City.

Gabriele relocated to Shanghai in 2005. A year later, he formed Blue Koi Collective with saxophonist Alec Haavik and drummers Joao Silvestre and Feng Hao. The band performs regularly at the JZ Club and has just released their first CD. Upcoming dates include YYT and the Two Cities Gallery.

International collaborations continue to shape Gabriele's music, as he composes, performs, and teaches in Shanghai.
